LISTEN & HCD Innovation CP HCD Capacity Building guide
This book consists of all the tools discussed during the human centered design capacity building workshop.

Overview

This course has the goal of capacitating Innovation CP members to utilize HCD and their diverse experiences, knowledge and strengths to support CPs address their challenges. The purpose is to build an understanding and appreciation of the value of HCD to champion it within your own community as well as the CPs that you are working with.

Discovery

During the discovery phase, our primary objectives are to identify a relevant problem area, gather crucial information to gain a better understanding of the issue, and delve into key concepts that help us comprehend user behavior more profoundly. By effectively addressing these aspects, we lay the foundation for creating targeted and user-centric solutions to the identified problem.

Define

The define section helps us understand the nuances of a problem and arrive at opportunity areas through a series of activities and frameworks, the aim is to get in as much detail and we can while ensuring we keep the bigger picture and the problem statement in mind

Ideate

In ideation, we generate creative solutions to complex problems through HCD. Creativity is not limited to specific individuals; everyone can contribute. It builds on previous work and is a collaborative process, not solely reliant on individual insights.

Prototype & Learn

Prototyping is an experimental process of making our ideas tangible and real. It is a very important part of the design process, as having something to see or touch and feel, something physical that represents our solutions, allows us to understand and communicate our ideas better.

Applying HCD

You’ve made it through learning about the HCD process through Discover, Define, Ideate and Prototype and Learn!.In this final module we want to reflect on the ways that you can apply and implement HCD.
