Bacambi Bendlela Savings Cooperative was established in 2015 pioneered by the woman of Mdonjane sub-area under Luyengweni chiefdom in Eswatini, Lobamba Lomdzala Inkhundla (region) with the aim of accumulating monthly savings for its members. Bacambi Bendlela has also identified the need to include discussions on HIV prevention during their meetings in order to employ a wholistic approach towards enhancing their lives. The group started with 36 members and recruitment for additional members is still open, they currently have a total of 41 members.
In 2021, the MOH LISTEN project-initiated conversations with Bacambi Bendlela Savings group that aimed to include the group into the LISTEN mapping. The LISTEN approach was introduced, and Bacambi Bendlela was able to segment their group through identifying their goals and objectives, member’s location, sex, and preferred delivery points were identified. The human-centered design approached was also introduced to Bacambi Bendlela which strategically assisted the group to identify their challenges. After a list of challenges was produced, the prioritization tool was utilized to place priority into the identified challenges. The lack of clean water in their community was prioritized as the leading problem that needed to be addressed on priority. The approach uses stakeholders within the community to address the challenges. The table below summaries some of the stakeholder to be engaged in addressing the identified challenges:
